My IT career started in 2000 when I joined the US Navy as an Information System Technician (IT). During my military career I worked in a wide range of IT areas, from help desk technician to manager, system administrator to network administrator, patch management to security investigations, physical security officer to incident response lead, and finally Certification & Accreditation (C&A) lead. After eight years in the US Navy I took a DoD position as an Information Assurance Officer and have worked in Cyber/IT security since. Currently I work in security governance for the USDA.
I received a bachelors in general science from Excelsior College, a masters in IT Project Management from Capella University, and doctorate in computer science-Information Assurance with Colorado Technical University (CTU). My dissertation was "Exploring an Intelligent Agent Infrastructure for an Insider Threat Tool", documenting the creation of AIMIE (Artificial Intelligent Memory Inference Engine). AIMIE research was accepted for publication at International Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology (DESRIST) for both 2015 & 2016. My current research platform is machine intelligence based, concentrating in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Psychology, Emergent Intelligence, Insider threats and the use of Design Science Research (DSR).
One of my greatest achievements was standing watch in Groton CT during the 9/11 attacks, it was a historical period that would forever change security. I live in the Midwest with my husband and dog, Scruffy. I have three grown children and eight grandchildren. My hobbies are online gaming, sci-fi (I am a Trekkie), and Celtic and Elizabethan era history.
