CIS Minor

The Computer Information System minor is designed to allow students in other disciplines to earn a credential in the information technology area, which will enhance their marketability as technology skills are required in almost any career field.

The Minor in Computer Information Systems is an 18-credit hour concentration.

Networking Minor

The Computer Networking minor is designed to allow students in other disciplines as well as computer information students to earn a credential to show that they have taken a concentration of networking classes that range from basic concepts to network management, background in network protocols, advanced networking skills, and security principles.

The need for networks is increasing as more and more business get connected or update technology. The networking industry needs skilled workers that understand networking concepts and how to apply them to the job. To work as a network analyst/administrator a student would need a bachelor's degree in a computer-related discipline with a concentration in networking or the ability to demonstrate that he/she has taken more than a few basic networking courses.

Security Minor

The Information Systems Security minor is designed to allow students in other disciplines as well as computer information system students to earn a credential in the information security area, which will enhance their marketability as security skills are essential in protecting sensitive information and securing organizational assets.

Personnel trained in information security are needed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information resources and the infrastructure that enables the sharing of information.

Web Applications Minor

The Web Design and Development minor is the obvious choice for students in other disciplines who want to advance their career options by learning marketable Web development and graphic design skills. This minor combines the theoretical concepts with the hands-on skills you’ll need to design, develop, and maintain a Web presence. You’ll learn how to:
